Review by hotel critic
Nestled in the heart of Martinborough's wine region, Villa In the Vines is a charming 1910 cottage that provided me and my travel companion with an intimate and relaxing getaway. From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the spaciousness of the property, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in our surroundings, complete with stunning garden views and the rolling hills of the Tararua Ranges in the distance. One of the highlights of our stay was the generous setup of breakfast provisions, featuring local free-range eggs, jams, and a complimentary bottle of exquisite Wairarapa Pinot Noir. Sipping wine on the patio while indulging in such local flavors was a delightful experience, making our evenings feel both luxurious and cozy. The well-equipped kitchen and delightful little touches throughout the cottage, like the selection of Twinings teas and the comfortable sitting area with a fireplace, created an inviting atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a day of cycling along the famous Martinborough wine trail. With free bikes provided by the villa, we explored the breathtaking vineyards just steps from our door, enhancing our appreciation for the region's culinary offerings. I highly recommend Villa In the Vines for those seeking an authentic New Zealand experience, blending relaxation with the allure of the local wine country in a setting that feels like a home away from home. Whether you're traveling solo or with a companion, this charming retreat offers a perfect blend of comfort, culinary delights, and stunning views that will linger in your memory long after you've left.
